Classroom:Martin is majoring in Clinical Laboratory Sciences and Medical Technology and carries a 3.93 GPA. She is expected to graduate in May 2008. She has been on the Missouri State Dean’s List every semester she has been at Missouri State. She has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete First Team (2006), the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine All-District First Team (2006) and the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Second Team (2005)
Character:Katie serves as the softball team representative for the Missouri State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), where she has demonstrated an appreciation for the well-being of her university and the local community through the organization’s service efforts, including benefiting families in financial need and interacting with youth in southwest Missouri. She has an outstanding work ethic: all-conference player while attending school as a four-year honor student
Competition:Martin is a four-year starter that has surpassed 100 hits, 20 doubles, and 75 runs scored in her career. She has been named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference Second Team (2006). Martin started all 57 games in 2006 in left field as Missouri State won a school-record 40 games, captured the Missouri Valley Conference tournament championship, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998. Her three triples tied for third-most in MVC and 14 stolen bases ranked fourth in 2006.
