Classroom:Beth has earned Academic All-District and Academic All-America honors from CoSIDA and ESPN The Magazine. She also earned the OVC Scholar-Athlete Award for 2007.
Character:Beth Boden exemplifies all the qualities a coach looks for in a leader, according to head softball coach Tory Acheson. "She understands that hard work, commitment and dedication are the keys to getting the job done in the classroom and on the field. She leads by example and is more than willing to do whatever it takes assist her teammates in their efforts to fulfill their potential. It has been a pleasure to see her grow over the past four years into one of the finest student athletes I have ever seen. There is no doubt she is the finest person I’ve had the chance to work with to this point in my career."
Five years ago I met a very mature and goal oriented high school senior who would go on to become an important part of our very successful softball program. To say that Beth has exceeded my expectations for her would be an understatement. She has excelled on the field of play, as OVC Player of the Year, and in the classroom as the OVC Scholar Athlete and with other academic honors too numerous to mention here as she completes her degree in Civil Engineering with Honors.
Beth has demonstrated the kind of character we find so lacking in many of her contemporaries. She has always gone above and beyond the call of duty as she worked to fulfill her potential in every aspect of her membership with our program. She has shown to kind of leadership that many would shy away from.
Competition:Beth was voted the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year in 2007, leading Tech to its third straight conference regular season and tournament championship and berth in the NCAA Tournament. She led the nation in home runs (25) while ranking among conference leaders in numerous additional statistical categories as the Golden Eagles posted back-to-back 50-win seasons.
