Classroom:Andrea is a major in History with a minor in Classics and Greek. She has a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.8. Has received Semester Recognition every semester with at least a 3.0 Semester G.P.A and been a member of the Dean’s List every semester with at least a 3.5 Semester G.P.A. Has received Presidential Academic Honors every year eligible with a minimum 3.25 Cumulative G.P.A. after at least three semesters. She has been a two-time Mid-Con All-Academic Team member. She was named to the Mid-Con Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence, had been a two-time NFCA Scholar-Athlete, was a member of Fall 2007 Horizon League Academic Honor Roll. She was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District V Second Team as a junior. Has been a member of the Phi Alpha Theta- History Honors Society since 2006, Eta Sigma Pi-Classies Honor Society since 2005. Was a Lumina Award recipient in 2007 and aNational Fast Pitch Coaches Association Scholar Athlete in 2005, 2006 and 2007. She will graduate in May 2008 and after graduation would like to Teach for America.
Character:Zappia is the Executive Vice-Chair and Education Committee Chair of Valparaiso University Honor Council in 2007-2008 and has been a member since 2006. She is the co-captain of the Valparaiso University Softball Team in 2007-2008 and was a Valparaiso University Crusader Club Hospitality Room Manager from 2005-Present. She is an Ambassador in Admissions and an Executive Assistant to Admission Counselor.
Competition:Zappia has made 104 appearances in the circle over her first three seasons, including 32 starts. She helped lead Valpo to a school record tying 27 wins in 2007 and it is a two-time Second Team All Mid-Continent Conference honoree. She holds Valpo record for career saves with 14, which is tied for 14th-most in NCAA Division I softball history and is third all-time in Crusader history with 269 career strikeouts. She also owns the top-three single-season save totals in Valpo history.
